(b. 1961, Baku).
Azerbaijani composer, now resident in both Azerbaijan and Turkey, of orchestral, chamber, vocal, and piano works that have been performed throughout Asia and Europe.
Mr. Alizadeh studied composition with Faraj Karayev at the Bakı Musiqi Akademiyası – Academy of Music in Baku from 1979–85.
Among his honours are two prizes in the competition All-Union (diploma, 1983, for two works for piano [both withdrawn]; First Prize, 1985, for String Quartet No. 1). His music has been performed in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, Japan, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Russia, Turkey, and Ukraine.
He taught at the Art University of Azerbaijan in Baku from 1987–99 and has taught at Yüzüncü Yıl Üniversitesi in Van, Turkey since 1999.
