Dutch composer, now resident in France, of mostly chamber and vocal works that have been performed throughout Europe.
Ms. Beets studied at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where she graduated in piano cum laude in 1978 and in organ cum laude in 1979. She later studied chamber music privately with George van Renesse and Nelly Wagenaar in the 1980s, during which time she also studied sārangī privately with Joep Bor, as well as Eastern philosophy.
She is also active in other positions. She founded the interdisciplinary foundation Muzenstede in 1997 and has served as its director since 1997. She produced the project Muzikale Stadswandeling te Wijk bij Duurstede in 2000, a musical tour through Wijk bij Duurstede in the form of nine pieces. She founded the variable ensemble Purusha for this project in 2000, with which she continues to work regularly.
She lived in Belgium from 2001–07 and has lived in France since 2007.
