Cuban composer of mostly chamber and electroacoustic works that have been performed in the Americas and Europe.
Ms. Escalante Chernova studied composition with Louis Aguirre, Carlos Fariñas and Roberto Valera, as well as electronic music, at the Instituto Superior de Arte in Havana.
Among her honours are Primer Premio for chamber music in the competition of the Unión Nacional de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba in Santa Clara (1998, for String Quartet No. 1; 2000, for Quartet) and Primer Premio in the competition for electroacoustic music and sonic art in Havana (2000, for La Primavera del ángel).
