Fage, Shane (b. 1964, Winnipeg, Manitoba). Canadian composer of mostly orchestral and chamber works that have been performed in Canada and Europe.
Mr. Fage studied composition with Allan Gordon Bell, David Eagle and William Jordan at the University of Calgary, where he earned his MMus. During the course of his studies, he was the recipient of the Province of Alberta Graduate Scholarship, the Dean's Special Master's Scholarship, three graduate research scholarships, a Graduate Teaching Assistantship, and the Louise McKinney Prize. He also attended the International Young Composers Meeting in Apeldoorn in 2000.
His honors include a prize in the competition of the Strings of the Future festival in Ottawa (2001, for Quartet No. 1).
He is also active in other positions. He has served as composer-in-residence at the Banff Centre for the Arts several times and served as the faculty ensemble coordinator for summer residents there in 1999. He participated in the Krzysztof Penderecki Symposium and Festival in Kraków and served as a liaison between the Banff Centre for the Arts and the Penderecki family from 1998-2000.
He has guest-lectured at the Esther Honens piano competition.
