Hyde, Thomas (b. 1978, London). British composer of mostly chamber, choral and vocal works that have been performed throughout the UK, as well as in the USA.
Mr. Hyde studied composition privately with David Matthews and then at St. Anne's College in Oxford from 1996-99 and later had post-graduate studies with Simon Bainbridge at the Royal Academy of Music in London from 1999-2001, where he earned his MMus. In addition, he attended a course with Sir Peter Maxwell Davies in Hoy in 1996 and studied with Sir Harrison Birtwistle at Dartington in 2000, on a scholarship.
Among his honors are the National School Band Association Composers Prize (1993) and the Manson Award (1999), a grant from the Ralph Vaughan Williams Trust (1999) and the Manson Junior Fellowship in Composition (2001-02), all from the Royal Academy of Music.
He is also active as a writer and has contributed to The Musical Times.
