T he Living Composers Project

Koepf, Siegfried (b. 1958, Stuttgart). German composer of mostly chamber, piano and multimedia works that have been performed throughout Europe.

Mr. Koepf initially studied patternmaking, but had piano studies with Günter Louegk in Stuttgart from 1982-84 and chose music as his career. He then studied composition and piano at the Musikhochschule Köln from 1984-93.

Among his honors are the Bernd-Alois-Zimmermann-Stipendium from the city of Cologne (1994) and the NRW Province Research Grant (1995-97).

He has been engaged in logical explorations of strategies for the description of musical instruments and tonal systems since 1990. His work since 1992 has also involved computer-aided compositions and exhibitions with films, objects and paintings, as well as numerous new music concerts both as a composer and performer.

He has taught music theory at the Musikhochschule Köln since 2000.

In addition to the works listed below, he has created computer software, films, print editions, theoretical texts, and various music machines.

The Feedback Studio Verlag publishes his music.
