THE LIVING COMPOSERS PROJECT  

Vigen Kzartmyan

(b. 10 December 1979, Yerevan).

Armenian composer, now resident in Austria, of mostly orchestral and chamber works that have been performed in Europe.

Mr. Kzartmyan studied piano as a child and studied composition with Martun Israelyan at the Komitas State Conservatory in Yerevan from 1996–2000. He later studied with Dietmar Schermann at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna.

Among his honours is First Prize in a state competition for composers in Armenia (1996).

He is also active in other positions. He worked as an arranger for both the Metro Theatre in Yerevan and the State Chamber Theatre in Yerevan from 1996–2000. As a pianist, he has given solo recitals in Armenia, Austria, Georgia, and Russia.

He has lived in Austria since 2000.
