THE LIVING COMPOSERS PROJECT  

Sigmund Lillebjerka

(b. 1931, Bodø – d. 27 July 2015, Bodø).

Norwegian composer of mostly orchestral and chamber works that have been performed throughout Europe.

Mr. Lillebjerka was primarily self-taught as a composer, but has studied composition privately with Per Hjort Albertsen, Sigurd Berge, Bjørn Kruse, and Olav Anton Thommessen, among other composers.

Among his honours were First Prize from NRK, Second Prize from NRK, Third Prize from the Sør-Troms og Vesterålen Skolemusikkrets, the Culture Prize from the city of Bodø, and the ILIOS-pris from the ILIOS-festivalen in Harstad.

He was the father of the violinist Sveinung Lillebjerka and the cellist Ørnulf Lillebjerka.
