THE LIVING COMPOSERS PROJECT  

Iyad Mohammad

(b. 1976, Gräfelfing).

Jordanian composer, born in Germany, of orchestral and chamber works that have been performed in Asia and Europe.

Mr. Mohammad studied cello and music theory at the National Conservatory of Music of the Noor al-Hussein Foundation in Amman from 1991–94, when he also studied flute and piano privately. He later studied composition with Larisa Murashko and Viktor Voytik at the Belarusian State Academy of Music in Minsk from 1996–2001, where he earned his graduate diploma with honours and his DMus, then where he had postgraduate studies with Elena Gorokhovik from 2002–06.

He lectured on analysis, composition, harmony, and other subjects at the National Conservatory of Music of the Noor al-Hussein Foundation from 2003–06 and served as dean of the Jordan Academy of Music in Amman from 2006–12. He has taught at Yarmouk University in Irbid since 2013.

He has lived in Jordan since 1981, with a period in Belarus from 1996–2006, and is a citizen of both Germany and Jordan.
