Portuguese composer of mostly orchestral and chamber works that have been performed in Europe and North America.
Mr. Oliveira studied composition with Fernando Lapa at the Conservatório de Música do Porto from 1994–97 and with Christopher Bochmann and António Pinho Vargas at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa from 1997–2001. He later studied composition with Klaas de Vries and Peter-Jan Wagemans at the Rotterdams Conservatorium in 2003–04.
Among his honours is an honourable mention in the Prémio Fernando Lopes-Graça from the city of Tomar (2004, for chiarezza lontana, respiro affannoso).
