Ecuadorian composer, now resident in Germany, of mostly orchestral and chamber works that have been performed in Europe and South America.
Mr. Quintero Silva initially studied ear training and music theory privately with Jorge Navarro and guitar privately with Ricardo Aguiar, both in Quito, where he also studied composition, guitar, music theory, and tenor saxophone at various institutions from 2002–07. He studied composition with Younghi Pagh-Paan at the Hochschule für Künste Bremen from 2007–09. He studied composition with Markus Hechtle at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne in 2009–10, where he then studied composition with Johannes Schöllhorn from 2010–17 and earned his MMus in 2014 and his Konzertexamen with distinction in 2017.
Among his honours are the Théodor-Gouvy-Preis des Eurodistricts SaarMoselle (2013, for Eres el mar inasible), a residency at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris (2014–15, on a scholarship from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia) and selection as composer-in-residence at the festival Orgelmixturen in Cologne (2019). He has received commissions from the city of Cologne, the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken Kaiserslautern, Deutschlandfunk, the Ensamble Música Nueva in La Paz, and the Kammerorchester Ricercare. His music has been performed in Bolivia, Ecuador, France, Germany, Italy, and Switzerland.
He has lived in Germany since 2007.
