THE LIVING COMPOSERS PROJECT  

Petar Klanac

(b. 27 October 1971, Montréal, Québec).

Canadian composer, now resident in France, of mostly orchestral, chamber, vocal, and piano works that have been performed in Europe and North America.

Mr. Klanac initially studied violin at age six, then electric guitar by age sixteen, when he also started composing. He later studied composition with Gilles Tremblay at the Conservatoire de musique du Québec à Montréal from 1991–95, then studied composition with Gérard Grisey at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris from 1996–98 and with Marco Stroppa there in 1998–99.

His music has been performed in Belgium, Canada, France, Spain, Switzerland, and the USA.

He is also active in other positions. He sang in Les Petits Chanteurs du Mont-Royal in Montréal from 1981–90.

He has lived in France since 1996.
