THE LIVING COMPOSERS PROJECT  

Amir Teymuri

(b. 17 June 1984, Isfahan).

Iranian composer, now resident in Germany, of chamber, piano and electroacoustic works that have been performed in Asia and Europe.

Mr. Teymuri studied composition and piano at the School of Music and Dramatic Arts of Tehran University from 2003–10. He studied composition with Cornelius Schwehr at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg in Freiburg im Breisgau from 2010–14. He later studied composition with Orm Finnendahl and Michael Reudenbach at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt am Main from 2016–18. He studied musicology and Musikinformatik at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe from 2018–20.

Among his honours are an award at the Biennale for New Music at Tehran University (2004), the Berlin-Stipendium from the Akademie der Künste in Berlin (2015) and a term as artist-in-residence at the Zentrum für Kunst und Urbanistik in Berlin (2015–16). His music has been performed in Germany and Iran.

He was a research assistant at the Institut für Musikwissenschaft at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main from 2020–22. He has lectured on electroacoustic and algorithmic composition at the Institut für Neue Musik, Komposition und Dirigieren of the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München since 2023 and has lectured on Musikinformatik at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe since 2023.

He has lived in Germany since 2010.
